The Days of Summer

This is the first summer that I won't be marching in a band. It leaves so much more time to consider the details that this season brings. What better time to sit outside and feel the breeze on your skin?

My brother and I always confused these tiny thistles, which do not contain a sweet nectar, with the honeysuckle bush, which does - leading to a prickly tongue.

And the roses cream and scarlet shed their petals on the breeze
Your maiden aunts and I, and you, demure and shy,
Played a sober game of croquet underneath the spreading trees."
